Jillian Miller hails from the rainy Pacific Northwest, where she spent a childhood in the rain, scribbling stories and riding horses.
In search of sunny skies, she found her way to Wyoming in her early twenties, where she studied English literature and creative writing in Laramie, earning her degree as a secondary English Teacher. She’s taught middle school up through college composition for the past fifteen years and loves helping others find their authentic writing voice.
Always a history nerd, she pulled her writing and research skills together to write historical fiction. Her short story “Stormy Gray” won the 2009 Undergraduate Research Award from the American Heritage Center, and she hasn’t stopped writing since. Jillian features her fiction work on The Rewrite, her Substack, and where she also chats about books and writing.
Jillian is currently querying her work to agents in hopes of gaining representation for her novels.
Now an adjunct professor of English, Jillian now runs her own small business, supporting women entrepreneurs and coaching other writers.
When she’s not running after her two sons, she can be found on horseback, reading a book, or clacking away at the keyboard on her current work in progress. She lives on Wyoming’s high plains with her husband and sons, along with two gorgeous horses and two quirky dogs.
